Black. White. And Red All Over.
For this day, I wanted to document the small bits of holiday magic peeking out in a day that was pretty ordinary. So, I used two photos to show the two sides of the day.
The top image shows my daughter sitting under the dryer after getting a hair cut. The hair cut was actually the most significant event of the day. It has been a while since we did more than a small trim to her curly locks and, as her hair had grown magnificently to her mid-back, combing and detangling has become a big struggle. The long hair was beautiful, but getting unmanageable. So, we decided to take the length up to just past her shoulders.
A hair cut: normal, ordinary.
The bottom image is one I snapped of the angry-looking storm trooper that came in her Lego Star Wars Advent, today. I loved the fact that he was decked out for the holiday with matching mug and Santa hat, yet looked so completely on edge.
Isn't that how we all feel at least some of the times during this season: our halls are decked, but we're hanging by a very loose thread? I think our Lego storm trooper may need a little eggnog in his mug...with extra bourbon.
On the right side I used some patterned paper and word art to create a title. I then journaled an approximate rundown of the hourly events of the day to emphasize that it was filled with regular old Real Life stuff.
